New York Jets: How Mike Maccagnan can earn my valentine

Find a Pass Rusher

I never said these tasks Maccagnan needed to do were easy. The tasks that have been outlined are two of the longest running tasks that the Jets have needed to take care of for many years. It seems like Jets fans have been waiting as long for a pass rusher as they have for a quarterback. Maccagnan has the chance to finally end those both here in 2018.

If the Jets don’t end up with Kirk Cousins, or even if they do, they should pursue one of the big free agent pass rushers. The two names that would be a good fit are DeMarcus Lawrence and Ziggy Ansah. Either of those guys on the outside combined with Leonard Williams on the interior have the potential to make the defensive line deadly to opponents. Even with Cousins in the fold, the Jets have the money to make a run at one of the two.

If Cousins is signed, they can address the problem early in the draft. One player that looks promising is Bradley Chubb from North Carolina State. With 25 sacks over the last three years, he is a guy that would be a nice addition to the green and white.

Just solve these problems and Maccagnan, you can be my valentine. Not too hard, right?
