2018 NFL Mock Draft: New York Giants 3-round mock 4.0
By Sean Dyer
There may be some Giants fans that think Saquon Barkley or bust when it comes to drafting a running back this year. If New York doesn’t take Saquon at No. 2, they should just stick with Orleans Darkwa and Wayne Gallman.

Although that is a fair argument, Darkwa is a free agent and Kerryon Johnson is a stud. NFL.com’s Daniel Jeremiah even compared him to Le’Veon Bell.
Johnson is a three-down back. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and he’s solid in pass protection, a rare trait from college running backs.
He has a patient running style but once Johnson makes his move, he explodes to the second level of the defense. Johnson has great vision which, combined with his patience, allows him to make something out of nothing.
Johnson runs hard and will lower his shoulder to run through defenders. He also has a very good stiff arm which allows him to pick up extra yards. Johnson also shows incredible balance while working through would-be tacklers.
Luke Easterling of Draft Wire sees Johnson as a three-down playmaker in the NFL:
"As a prospect, Johnson’s combination of agility, vision, patience and explosiveness will have many NFL teams intrigued. … if he stays healthy at the next level, he could be an extremely productive playmaker on all three downs in the right system."
Saquon Barkley is out of this world and I’m a big fan of Sony Michel, but Kerryon Johnson is right up there for my favorite running back prospect. If I haven’t convinced you yet, just watch this play.
Johnson will be a Day 2 pick (just like Le’Veon Bell) and be an absolute steal for whoever drafts him (just like Bell). With or without Darkwa, the New York Giants should add Johnson to their backfield with their third-round pick. It wouldn’t take long before Johnson won the starting job.
