One of the most admirable things about the New Jersey Devils run so far this year is all the injuries they’ve managed to overcome. However, are the Devs going to have a rough time without their top netminder?

When Cory Schneider went down, it was a big blow to the New Jersey Devils. Injuries have hurt the Devs all season essentially. The Devs’ injuries were a reason why Adam Henrique was traded earlier in the year.

Schneider has now missed a decent amount of time since suffering his groin injury. The Devs are fortunate enough to have an established backup in Keith Kinkaid.

Despite a shaky performance in Ottawa on Tuesday, he has performed admirably.

After a good stretch of games, the Devs have lost two straight. It is time to evaluate life without Cory.

Every team needs their top goalie. Going out and getting Eddie Lack is a smart move for the Devs to add depth but Kinkaid is the top healthy goalie right now.

It feels like we have seen this before from Kinkaid. If he begins playing too many games, he will start to struggle.

Schneider is definitely the number one goalie in Newark.

The Devils have a young and fast swagger to them. They are really talented and well coached.

That is the main reason they are contending for the division right now.

But, if Keith Kinkaid continues to play poorly, it will hurt them.

History shows Kinkaid is an above average backup. He has played more than 20 games in a season in his career before.

The Devils are in no way in serious trouble without Schneider right now, but he gives them the best chance to win.

Jersey’s team got this far with Cory. Not having their best goalie out there is not helpful to a young team.

It’s not desperation time for the Devils just yet, but as things start heating up in the Metro division, with all the teams on each other’s heels, it won’t be long until Devils fans realize they need No. 35 back between the pipes.

Next: How well are the New Jersey Devils built for the future?

Everything is seemingly working out for the New Jersey Devils this year, but not having their top goalie for too much longer can change that real quick.

Devils players and fans should be anxious to hear updates on when Schneider will be back.
