The Empire State Building was lit up in Eagles green on Sunday after they won the Super Bowl. New York Giants fans were furious and rightfully so.

The New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles do not like each other. They are division rivals in the NFC East and historically do not get along. Yet, for some reason, the Empire State Building decided to honor Philadelphia’s Super Bowl victory by lighting up in Eagles green on Sunday night.

Growing up playing youth sports, we all had a rival. It may have been one individual kid, a group of kids, or even an entire team. As adults, when we coach our kids’ youth teams, we still have those rivalries. That one dad who always ends up with the stacked team … man you love to see him lose.

Now imagine, that kid or team or parent winning the championship. They’re running around the field celebrating, they’ve created a dog pile, the coach is drenched in Gatorade. You’re not happy for them. You don’t want to congratulate them.

This isn’t some Disney movie. This is real life. And you’re pissed off that they just won and you didn’t.

More from New York Giants

Watching the Eagles jam out to Meek Mill in the locker room while their fans ripped apart the streets of Philadelphia didn’t make Giants fans feel good. Quite the opposite. It reminded them that their team went 3-13 this season and their one division rival who had never won a Super Bowl just got their hands on the Lombardi Trophy.

Well at least some of us who live close enough to New York City can look up at the beautiful Empire State Building in the greatest city in the world … WHAT?!? … WHY IS IT GREEN?!?

Why in the world would we honor the Eagles by lighting the Empire State Building up green???

I didn’t see any New York Giants jerseys on the Rocky statue after any of Big Blue’s four Super Bowl victories! I didn’t see any blue cheesesteaks!

This is a rivalry. Sportsmanship, for the most part, goes out the window. Honoring the Eagles by putting their colors on New York’s most recognizable landmark is unacceptable. If anything, New York should have painted the Statue of Liberty blue! Get green out of the entire city!

The New York Giants should think about relocating. Heck, maybe we should change the name of our website! Any recommendations?

Let Philadelphia fans trash their city. Don’t trash ours.
