How the New York Giants benefit from the Alex Smith trade
By Sean Dyer
The Redskins lose Kendall Fuller along with a third-round pick
Losing a draft pick hurts, especially a third-rounder. However, until that pick is made, it’s hard to determine how much Washington will regret trading it.
Kendall Fuller, however, has been in the league for two seasons and is on the rise. Fuller made great strides in 2017, totaling 55 tackles, 10 pass breakups, and four interceptions.

Fuller was so impressive that Bleacher Report ranked him as the No. 1 slot defender in the NFL in 2017 in their NFL1000 series.
B/R’s defensive backs scout, Ian Wharton, said that Fuller “looks like the future face of the position after such a tremendous campaign.” And B/R’s lead scout, Doug Farrar, said Fuller “has the potential to be the best slot cornerback in the NFL, and one could argue that he was just that in 2017.”
Having that guy out of the division is a huge win for the New York Giants and specifically, Sterling Shepard. Cole Beasley and Nelson Agholor can rejoice as well.

Overall, this trade was great for the New York Giants. A division rival downgraded at quarterback, paid their new signal caller a bunch of long-term money, and lost the top slot cornerback in the NFL.
The Giants’ chances of winning the NFC East improved pretty significantly on Tuesday night without having to do a thing. Not a bad night for Big Blue.
