The Buffalo Bills made the first of what will be many moves this offseason on Friday. The team announced that they parted ways with offensive coordinator Rick Dennison.

Rick Dennison’s tenure with the Buffalo Bills was short-lived as he got the boot after just one season.

Firing Dennison is the right move.

The Bills’ offense failed to execute and struggled all season long.

After the three-point debacle in the playoff game, someone had to go.

There are many reasons why Dennison did not work out for the Bills.

Tyrod Taylor is better than some but far from elite as an NFL quarterback.

That played a factor in the poor execution.

The play calling was also very stale. It was often predictable and boring.

The decision to pass on first and goal in the playoff game speaks for itself.

Dennison’s offense was far from flashy.

This was Dennison’s third gig as an NFL offensive coordinator. He spent a few seasons with the Broncos and Texans.

The Buffalo Bills finished 9-7 this year but finished almost dead last in virtually every offensive category.

The search for a new offensive coordinator has begun.

For the first time in a while, the Buffalo job is one that is a pretty good situation to walk into.

The Bills are looking for a new QB, have a plethora of draft picks, and are coming off a playoff season.

There are a lot of reasons to want to come up to Buffalo and coach.

Some of the candidates include Darrell Bevell who was recently fired by the Seattle Seahawks.

More from Empire Writes Back

Matt Canada who is looking to perhaps make a jump to the NFL level. His interest in the Bills is unlikely.

More names include Mike McCoy and Rob Chudzinski. Both of whom have head coaching experience.

A highly possible candidate for Dennison’s replacement is Mike Shula.

Shula comes from Carolina much like head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane. He has worked closely with both of them before.

Shula, the son of iconic coach Don Shula, did wonders with Cam Newton.

The biggest issue in Buffalo right now is the quarterback position. Whoever the Bills hire needs to be ready to take on the task of working with a new QB.
