Be Competitive

That is the goal every week, of course. This week it becomes a bit bigger because the head coach may just be on the hot seat. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the team is leaning towards bringing him back, but it’s never official until it is announced. A good showing will go a long way to helping him keep his job. To do it against the Patriots will be even sweeter.

New York isn’t likely to win but they can still put on a good showing. Whatever it takes they must play like the season isn’t already over. The best term to use would be an “inspiring” effort. The Jets need to play inspired football on Sunday. They need to give their fans a game that makes them look forward to 2018. If it is just another dud, that will do nothing to help Todd Bowles’ job status. But an inspired performance will help a lot.

I would have liked to write a slide about reps for Christian Hackenberg. I just don’t believe they are going to happen so why waste the space? Todd Bowles has used “we’ll see” in response to questions about whether or not he will play. So did my parents. That response meant “no” nine times out of ten. So we will stay with these for Sunday. Enjoy the game.
