Second Round: Lorenzo Carter: OLB/Edge: Georgia

Another second round pick, another Georgia Bulldog selected. The Jets desperately need an edge rusher and could find it in Lorenzo Carter. This is a draft where there is unfortunately no pure burner off the edge the Jets could grab in the second round, but Carter’s ability to play outside and get to the quarterback should put him on the Jets draft board.

With reports that Muhammad Wilkerson will be released at the end of the season, Carter would be a nice fit on the edge at 6-6 and 243 pounds. Carter has been nothing but consistent in college with back to back seasons with over 45 tackles and six tackles for a loss. Carter can also get to the quarterback with four sacks in 2017 and 13.5 sacks in his college career.

More importantly he has a nose for finding the football and creating turnovers. This past season Carter forced three fumbles coming off the edge and has shown the ability to set the edge in the running game.

Outside linebacker and pass rusher has been a problem for the Jets in recent years, but Carter would be a day one starter for New York.
