Second Round:Nick Chubb: RB: Georgia

More from Empire Writes Back

The Jets are in need of an offensive overhaul and one position that could use an upgrade is the running back position. While Elijah McGuire has been a nice surprise for the Jets this season Bilal Powell has been a big disappointment and at this point in his career Matt Forte is at best a rotational back. However, with his cap hit for 2018, I doubt Forte will be back.

Powell and McGuire are good role backs but the Jets need a work horse. Despite alternating carries at Georgia, Nick Chubb has rushed for just under 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns at Georgia. Averaging 6.1 yards per carry, Chubb has improved upon his 2016 campaign and has looked not only faster, but has shown a greater patience when attacking the hole and letting the blocks develop in front if him.

He may not be a dual threat out of the backfield in terms of catching, but he is a 20-25 carry feature back that takes the pressure off the quarterback. With the second round becoming the round of running backs in the draft, the Jets could add another building block on their offense by drafting a lead running back.
