New York Yankees: CC Sabathia’s options this offseason
By Alex Mazer
My Prediction: Another year in pinstripes
Sometimes the most obvious choice can also be the right one — at least I hope that’s the case here.
Injuries taken into account, I doubt CC would be willing to throw in the towel just like that. After proving to critics that he can get the league’s best out with a sub-par fastball and a pedestrian changeup, I think the ball is in CC’s court here.
I can see the market price for someone of CC’s skill set — a back of the rotation starter who can be relied on to give you five solid innings in big moments — rising to somewhere around $10-12 million annually, and teams being forced to give him two years of that kind of money.
Judging CC’s impact not only on the mound last season but also in the locker room, I believe a potential short-term sacrifice like this to be a valuable investment.

CC Sabathia is a Yankee. He deserves to finish his Hall of Fame career in pinstripes, and I trust that the negotiating parties involved will come to terms to make it happen.
