Who are the five best second baseman to play for the New York Mets?

We are heading into a very interesting off-season for the New York Mets. It’s the first in a long time that doesn’t involve Terry Collins, replaced recently by Mickey Callaway. It’s an exciting time for the pitchers as Callaway comes from a pitching background. If they can only all get healthy together this is a great spot for them. We are also getting ready to see Amed Rosario, among other players, dig their teeth and prepare for a full season in New York. It has very exciting potential.

So, while 2017 heads further into our rearview mirror and we approach 2018, it’s time to continue the trip down memory lane. We are looking back at the best players to play each position on the team. So far we have taken a look at the five best catchers. That is a list that brought back some great memories, huh? We have also reviewed the best first basemen to play in Queens. The fact that Keith Hernandez’s number is not retired is mind-boggling. That discussion is for another day.

Today’s discussion is about the five best second basemen to play the position. This list does not carry the names that the previous two did. There are memorable players, depending upon how old you are. There are some that had very good careers in the blue and orange, but they just aren’t the legends that played catcher and first base. Who are they?
