New York Giants: Updated Cuts Down to 53 Man Roster

Here is the list of New York Giants roster moves that bring them to the required 53 man limit.

The deadline has come and gone for the New York Giants and the rest of the NFL. 4:00 PM EDT has passed and all teams were required to bring their rosters down to 53 players. Now, this will likely change, as there are players to be signed tomorrow. Nearly every team makes a quick move or two when the free agents are available for signing starting on Sunday.

But for now, we have the updated list (per Ralph Vacchiano of SNY):

One of the bigger surprises on this list to me, is Geno Smith. It’s not that Smith is expected to play a big role in the offense on a weekly basis. But God forbid something happens to Eli Manning, is this the guy you want in there? He still just doesn’t get it, and makes very bad decisions.

Here’s hoping that Eli continues his consecutive start streak.

On a team that is expected to make a serious playoff run, I found it surprising that they went with the young kicker rather than Mike Nugent. That may have just been a personal opinion.

There likely will be interest in Will Tye tomorrow when the period to sign these players opens.
