New York Giants 2017 Roster Preview: Cornerbacks
By Sean Dyer
Final Depth Chart
The New York Giants are set when it comes to their starting cornerbacks. Janoris Jenkins, Eli Apple, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are one of the best CB trios in the NFL.
The question is who will back that trio up? Michael Hunter appears to have a spot right now. He will obviously have to continue to play well to hold onto that roster spot.
Michael Hunter appears to have a spot right now. However, he will obviously have to continue to play well to hold onto that roster spot.
The fifth cornerback spot currently looks like a competition between Valentino Blake and Donte Deayon. The next couple preseason games are extremely important for those two.
Big Blue could also add a veteran cornerback later in the preseason. Leon Hall, who signed with the Giants late last year, could do the same this year. If Blake and Deayon are both unimpressive in the coming weeks, New York could bring Leon Hall back or go out and add another veteran CB.
Right now, the final cornerback spot is tough to call. It will be determined over the remaining preseason games.
Once the Giants get their reserve cornerbacks figured out, they should have one of the better CB groups in the league.
Tomorrow, we will finish our New York Giants 2017 Roster Preview with a look at the backline of the New York Pass Defense (NYPD) and preview Big Blue’s safeties.
