New York Jets 2017 Roster Preview: Tight Ends
By Sean Dyer
Austin Seferian-Jenkins
Austin Seferian-Jenkins was a second round pick for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but hasn’t lived up to the hype thus far.
At 6’5″ 262 lb., ASJ should be a red-zone nightmare for opposing defenses, but he has just seven touchdowns in four seasons.
Seferian-Jenkins is suspended for the first two games of the 2017 season for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy. Alcohol troubles have derailed a once-promising career.
ASJ has reportedly quit drinking and has enrolled in a rehab program. After serving his two-game suspension, Seferian-Jenkins will likely take over as the Jets starting tight end.
If he has moved on from drinking and taking football seriously, Austin Seferian-Jenkins could be productive for New York and finally be the red-zone threat everyone’s been waiting for.
