New York Jets 2017 Roster Preview: Quarterbacks
By Sean Dyer
Final Depth Chart
The New York Jets aren’t expected to do much in 2017. In fact, many expect them to be one of the worst teams in the NFL and some suspect them to “tank” this season.
If the Jets only get one thing out of this season it needs to be a better understanding of their future plans at the quarterback position.
They already know Josh McCown is not a long-term option. They need to get Bryce Petty and/or Christian Hackenberg reps to find out if they are a part of the team’s future.
I think McCown will start the year under center, but after the losses start to pile up, Gang Green will go to a youngster to see what he’s got.
I believe Jets fans want Hackenberg to be the answer, as they should. He has the biggest upside and they invested a second round pick in him. He won’t show enough to be given the starting job right away, but I think he gets a chance to show what he can do before Bryce Petty this season.
Tomorrow, we’ll take a look at the running backs who will help take pressure off of these young QBs.
