At the deadline, another fireballer New York should target is Kansas City’s Josh Staumont.

The 23-year-old had one of the best fastballs in the 2015 MLB draft and regularly sits in the upper-90s. Staumont has been clocked at 102 MPH and possesses a two-seam fastball that can also get into the upper 90s.

To go along with this heat, Staumont’s go-to strikeout pitch is a curveball that has great bite and sits in the low-80s.

Control has been his biggest issue through the minor leagues as Staumont has been at the top of the list in walks surrendered. Despite this, Staumont has some of the best strikeout numbers as well.

Staumont has the potential to be an elite top of the rotation starter with his stuff.

Even if he doesn’t pan out as a starter, the combination of an elite fastball and a devastating curveball gives Staumont the ability to be a serious weapon out of the bullpen.
