MLB’s non-waiver trade deadline is July 31st. As the New York Yankees appear to be in playoff contention, every day this month we will take a look at a player who could be involved in the Yankees’ deadline activity. These players will either be current Yankees who could be traded away or players from other organizations who New York could look to acquire for the playoff push.

Let’s continue our search for a first base upgrade for the Yankees at the trade deadline.

As we’ve mentioned, the Yankees’ first base production is one of the worst in the league.

There should be multiple first basemen on the trade market at the end of July.

Justin Bour could be one of those available players and he is reportedly already drawing interest from the Bronx Bombers.

Bour is a left-handed pull hitter who is made for Yankee Stadium.

Playing at Marlins Park, Bour is hitting .285/.358/.550 in 2017 with 18 HR and 53 RBI.

The Miami first baseman has also been one of the better defenders thus far in his career. Bour has a .995 career fielding percentage, including a .998 fielding percentage in 2017.

Bour’s 2017 campaign has earned him a spot on the All-Star Game Final Vote for the National League.

Like with yesterday’s trade target, Yonder Alonso, Bour’s individual success hasn’t resulted in Marlins wins. Miami is 36-44 with a lot of ground to make up in both the division and wild card races.

If the Marlins start selling, Brian Cashman should give them a call.

Although there are a few players on Miami’s roster that could help the Yankees, any trade talks should start with Justin Bour.

Bour is 29-years-old and is arbitration eligible through 2020. He could help the Yankees with their 2017 playoff push and potentially be their first baseman for the next few years if Greg Bird continues to struggle with injuries.

Due to his three years of team control after 2017, Bour won’t come cheap.

With the Marlins recently trading their shortstop, Adeiny Hechavarria, to the Tampa Bay Rays, a package built around Jorge Mateo could get the wheels turning.

With first base being New York’s biggest hole offensively, Mateo may be worth trading if they can get a guy like Bour with multiple years of team control in return.

Considering the Yankees’ recent struggles, they may need to add a few pieces at the trade deadline.

Tomorrow we’ll go into the pitching side of things with a trade target who could give manager Joe Girardi an answer to his bullpen problems.
