New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis said his Twitter account was hacked Saturday night.

New York Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis has heard his name pop up a lot this offseason. Despite the Knicks not qualifying for the postseason, they always find a way into the NBA news.

The first we heard about Porzingis was right after the regular season. Teams hold exit meetings once the season ends, which is normal. Which isn’t normal is a player skipping them. That is what Porzingis decided to do.

Porzingis skipped his exit meeting with team President Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills. ESPN New York’s Ian Begley cited the dysfunction and unprofessionalism within the organization for Porzingis’ reason for skipping the meeting. Porzingis has not been a fan of how the Carmelo Anthony situation has handled.

In addition to skipping the meeting, there were rumors that Porzingis was going to take some time away from the team. He was planning an extended vacation to Latvia, with a chance he would not return until closer to training camp. Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported the extended vacation.

Other teams around the NBA took notice of the discord between Porzingis and the Knicks. As a result, there were some trade inquiries made for Porzingis. Begley shared that news as well. There were no reports about whether there was any real progress made, but it is not surprising that teams would attempt to take advantage of the Knicks if there were real problems.

Now, the story has taken another turn. Saturday night a peculiar tweet was sent out from Porzingis’ Twitter account.

The tweet was quickly taken down, but caught by some users of the site. On Sunday, Porzingis said that he was hacked. He also shared the most used emojis on his phone, none of which were the smiling ones from the tweet that was deleted.

A representative for the Knicks also said that Porzingis was sleeping at the time of the tweet being made. Many people will say that the tweet can be connected to somewhere that Porzingis would want to play following the trade inquiries from other teams. That does not seem to be true either according to a Porzingis representative, as Porzingis is on vacation in Europe.

Porzingis has not been shy about his feelings. He may not like what is currently happening with the Knicks, but he wants to stay in New York. But, he has made it clear that winning is his No.1 priority.
