D. . QB. Chicago Bears. MITCHELL TRUBISKY

The second pick in the 2017 NFL Draft was traded to the Chicago Bears. The Bears moved up from the third overall pick to select North Carolina quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. This is a shocking selection on multiple levels.

Trade wise, it is a surprise to see the Bears move up. They were rumored to be looking to move back in the draft according to Adam Schefter just hours before the draft. Instead, they moved up to snag Trubisky. The Bears traded the No.3 overall pick, the 67th and 111th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft and the Bears 2018 third round pick.

That is a ton to give up to move up one spot in the draft, especially given the selection they made. The Bears handed a big contract to Mike Glennon this offseason, so this selection makes little sense. They also signed Mark Sanchez, so Trubisky will more than likely be redshirting his rookie season.

For a team with as many needs as the Bears, especially defensively, this is a peculiar move. The Bears were able to hold onto their second round pick, but that seems like a steep price to move up only one spot. The Bears handcuffed themselves selecting Trubisky with Glennon already in the picture.
