New York Giants take QB Patrick Mahomes in Brugler Mock Draft
New York Giants fans have speculated that Big Blue could take Eli Manning’s successor this draft. One mock has the Giants taking him in the first round.
The New York Giants have put finding Eli Manning’s successor on the backburner… or have they?
In the latest mock draft from CBS’s Dane Brugler, he thinks the Giants could take Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes with the 23rd pick.
"The Giants are ready to win now, but the allure of landing an exciting building block for the future might be too great to pass on a talent like Mahomes. There is obviously interest by the Giants so this possible pairing can’t be ruled out."
Brugler is right about one thing. The Giants should be looking for Manning’s successor this draft. However taking him in the first round is, as I would call it, banana land.
The man is an expert for a reason, but that is just a wild pick to turn heads. It is very clear that the Giants don’t need a quarterback in the first round. The talent at the under-center position at this draft is nothing special.
The quarterbacks in round one are going to be no different than those in round three. The Giants have to focus on other things first before they worry about finding the next in line at the quarterback position.
The most important thing for Jerry Reese is to steer clear of temptation. Of course taking Mahomes would be a shocking move, but it wouldn’t be anything more than that.

Mahomes is a talented quarterback, but he’s not who the Giants should be taking with their first pick.
I get Bruger trying to make a jarring journalistic decision, but there is no reason the New York Giants should take a quarterback. Come on now.
