The 2016-17 regular season did not go as planned for the New York Knicks. There were high expectations for the team coming into the season. With the moves that Phil Jackson made, there were many people that believed that the Knicks could qualify for the postseason.
The trade for Derrick Rose and signing of Joakim Noah brought some buzz to the team. Carmelo Anthony was happy as there were more veterans around to help carry the load. Kristaps Porzingis was entering his second season after a strong rookie campaign. But, the moves Jackson made did not pan out.

The Knicks were once again a laughing stock throughout most of the season. Jackson rarely talked to the media, but when he did, it was to bash Anthony in hopes of him waiving his no-trade clause. Rose ended the season on the sideline and played up-and-down basketball when on the court. Noah was a disaster as he couldn’t stay healthy and ended the season suspended.
There was a lot to dislike during the regular season. The dysfunction people had hoped would go away with Jackson running things has only heightened this season. Despite all the negatives that have surrounded the organization this season, there are still some positives to take away and some performances that should be highlighted.
So, we decided to hand out some awards for the regular season. Check out our slideshow as we pick awards for the Knicks from the 2016-17 regular season.
