Number Three: Boston Red Sox (8-5)
Having the Red Sox at number three is a scary sight.
This is a team that is destined for greatness this season, and at an 8-5 record, they still haven’t played their best baseball. After trading for Chris Sale this offseason the Sox became the odds on favorite to win the East, and that is a very realistic goal.
They’re in the top echelon on teams in the MLB, and at this point, they’re just waiting to creep to number one. Andrew Benintendi is one of the best young outfielders in baseball, and the rest of the Red Sox lineup is pretty unbelievable.
I truly despise giving praise to the Red Sox, but any sports fan knows you have to give credit when credit is due. Red Sox fans, go ahead, be up-in-arms about the fact the Red Sox are number three this week. I don’t think they’re going to be there ever again.
The Orioles are bound to slow down, and the Yankees are out-of-this-world hot right now. Every team cools down, and every team goes on streaks. The psychic in me thinks sooner or later the Sox will be in the top two, but the Yankee fan in me is praying it doesn’t happen.
