Florida has played very well in their first two games in the NCAA Tournament, as they avoided an upset in the first round, and then proceeded to clobber Virginia in the Round of 32. Even though the Gators have played well, they have been doing it without their leading scorer playing well.

KeVaughn Allen has played great for the Gators this season, but we have yet to see him play well in the NCAA Tournament. In the regular season, Allen averaged 13.4 points per game. As the leading scorer for the Gators, seeing them win with Allen struggling is impressive.

In the opening round, Allen totaled seven points on a dreadful one-for-11 shooting. In the blowout win against Virgina, Allen continued to struggle, as he totaled just four points on two-for-11 shooting. Throughout the season, Florida hasn’t been a great offensive team. However, Allen has been their go-to guy when they need a basket. So far, that hasn’t happened in the tournament.

Even though Florida has been able to win with Allen struggling, that luck won’t last forever. If the Gators want to advance to the Elite 8, they will need Allen to play like he did in the regular season.
