The New York Giants have been very active this offseason, but one question has been the 2017  NFL Draft. A player primed to make an impact is Temple’s Haason Reddick. He could be the piece to help New York bring home a Lombardi Trophy.

The New York Giants are in the process of building a championship team, but one foe stands in their way. It’s not a division rival, or even an NFL superstar, it’s the NFL Draft.

Every year Giants fans get their hopes up. They wait for Commissioner Roger Goodell to say the fateful words, “And with the *insert number* pick, the New York Giants select…”

Don’t get me wrong, Jerry Reese has hit on some great picks in his time, but overall they’ve been abysmal. This year the Giants are on the cusp of winning a championship, and there is a player ready to make an impact on the NFL.

His name is Haason Redick, and he is an absolute animal of a linebacker. He had an incredible senior year for the Temple Owls. He was third in the nation with 22.5 tackles for loss, and he lead the team with 10.5 sacks.

Reddick is exactly what the Giants are looking for in a linebacker. He is a hybrid outside rusher with incredible speed, and he is capable of dropping into coverage.

Going to a smaller school definitely kept Reddick off the map, but after he dazzled at the NFL Draft Combine, his draft stock skyrocketed.

"“Reddick’s speed and athleticism might give him a greater shot at impacting the game as a 3-4 inside linebacker or a 4-3 WILL rather than trying to bulk up and play the edge. An ascending prospect with a high-end potential if he can continue to hone his craft. “- NFL.com Draft Profile"

If you’ve never seen Reddick’s highlights, checkout the video below. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Done? Good.

Now you know how much of a beast this guy is. His ability to read plays and make tackles is unbelievable. He is clearly a first round talent, and it would be crazy if the Giants pass on him.

The bottom line is that there is one message to send to Jerry Reese. This one is right in front of you, and you better not blow it. The Giants are in need of an outside linebacker, and Reddick has proven that he is the real deal.

I, along with many other Giants fans, are waiting for the next great Giant linebacker. In recent years the linebacking corps have been nothing less than painful to watch, but picking Reddick could stop some of the bleeding.

Now the ball is back in Reese’s court. There is a player out there that could be the next great Giants linebacker, and the only thing standing in the Giants way of getting him, is the guy that makes the picks.
