The Brooklyn Nets’ road trip ended with yet another loss as they fell to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.
The losing continued for the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. They were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks in what is the final game of the Nets’ lengthy road trip.
The Nets have played the past eight games away from Barclays Center, not playing a home game since February 15th, prior to the All-Star break. Against the Mavericks tonight, the Nets looked like a team that has been away from home for a while as they lost steal down the stretch.
Brooklyn went into the fourth quarter trailing by only one point and kept it close to start the final stanza. It was only a three-point game with 8:29 left after an Isaiah Whitehead three-pointer. But, the Mavericks would keep the Nets at arm’s length after that, finishing the game by outscoring the Nets 22-16.

It was a struggle most of the night offensively for Brooklyn. Without Brook Lopez the Nets lacked a go-to scorer. They shot only 43.6 percent from the field and an ugly 29 percent from deep. The Mavericks didn’t fare any better overall from the field, going 33-of-78 for 42.3 percent. But, the Mavericks shot it well from deep, making 42.4 percent of their three-pointers, going 14-of-33; the Nets went only 9-of-31.
That is where the Nets were beaten, as Dirk Nowitzki, Seth Curry, Harrison Barnes, and former Net Yogi Ferrell all had multiple three-pointers.
Three Stars
PG Isaiah Whitehead, Nets — The rookie point guard had a career-high scoring night. Without Lopez the Nets needed someone to step up scoring the ball and Whitehead did. He scored 24 points, going 8-of-12 from the field and 3-of-6 from the three-point line; he also made all five of his free throws. That was pretty much all Whitehead provided in his time on the court, as the only other stat he had was one assist.
PF Trevor Booker, Nets — Booker came off the bench tonight as the Nets are getting a look at their younger players. He played only 27 minutes but still had solid numbers. Booker scored 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and three assists. Booker could see his minutes decrease with the season winding down but as long as he is on the court he will continue to produce.
SF Harrison Barnes, Mavericks — Barnes led the way scoring-wise for the Mavericks tonight. He poured in a team-high 21, going 7-of-15 from the field, including 2-of-3 from deep and all five free throws. He would also add seven rebounds for a solid night.
