New York Giants rumors: With the legal tampering period beginning March 7th, the Giants are expected to show interest in wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.

New York Giants rumors are about to pick up with free agency knocking on the door. The NFL’s legal tampering period is less than 24 hours away, set to begin at noon on March 7th. That means teams are allowed to begin negotiating with players that are set to be unrestricted free agents.

There are a number of players that the Giants should be talking to during this time. They came out as big winners last year in free agency, adding Olivier Vernon, Damon Harrison, Janoris Jenkins, and Keenan Robison to greatly improve their defense.

This time around, the focus should be on the other side of the ball. If the Giants want to take the next step and go deeper into the postseason they need to address the offensive line. The offensive line is probably the biggest need for the Giants right now. But, there are other areas on the offense that could use improvement.

Adding a veteran running back, if Shane Vereen doesn’t prove to be healthy, makes sense. But, an under the radar need for the Giants is a wide receiver.

Many people will believe the Giants are set with Odell Beckham Jr. and Sterling Shepard. But, the Giants played in three-receiver sets more than any team in the NFL last season, so upgrading there makes sense.

Victor Cruz is now gone; do the Giants feel comfortable with someone like Roger Lewis Jr. or Tavarres King take over the No.3 spot? Or will Dwayne Harris see an increased role again? It is fair to assume the Giants will look to add someone at the position.

It is fair to assume the Giants will look to add someone at the position. A bigger receiver will probably be the target as Beckham Jr. and Shepard are both under six-feet tall. Luckily for the Giants, there are some players that fit the mold of bigger receivers on the free agent market.

One player to keep an eye on is Terrelle Pryor. The quarterback turned wide receiver had an excellent season with the Cleveland Browns in 2016, his first as a full-time wide receiver. Pryor caught 77 passes for 1,007 yards, and four touchdowns.

Those are pretty strong numbers when you take into account his inexperience at the position and the struggles the Browns had. As a result, Pryor will have plenty of suitors on free agency and the Giants are among them.

According to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com, the Giants are one of many teams interested in Pryor. Cabot reports that the Pittsburgh Steelers, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, and San Francisco 49ers are all showing interest in Pryor as well.

Pryor’s freakish athletic ability was on full display at wide receiver after seeing flashes of it while he played quarterback. He could develop into a dominant receiver in the league as he is only 27-years old, standing 6-feet-6 inches tall and weighing 240 pounds.

Pryor would be a good addition to whichever team signs him. But, he will probably command a huge contract given his potential and production last season. It would not be a surprise to see him land a big time deal, as agent Drew Rosenhaus believes Pryor will be one of the highest paid wide receivers in the league.

The money will probably be out of the Giants price range as they have more pressing needs. There is also the awkward situation of signing Pryor after the interaction he had with Jenkins during the season.

Jenkins ripped Pryor apart following the Giants game against the Browns this past season. Jenkins took to Twitter to bash Pryor and his skills. Pryor took the high road, praising Jenkins’ play. It would make for an awkward situation if the two were on the same team, but time heals and Pryor would undoubtedly improve the Giants.
