Baltimore Ravens

The first team that reportedly showed interest in Marshall were the Baltimore Ravens. The Ravens are competitive year in and year out and would be an excellent match for Marshall. Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun expects them to at least explore Marshall.

Rotoworld also reports that the Ravens were interested in Marshall even before he was released. Their interest makes plenty of sense.

For starters, they have a need at wide receiver. With Steve Smith Sr. retiring and Kamar Aiken a free agent there is a need. Marshall would fit in nicely on the outside along with speedsters Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman as a big, possession target receiver. The Ravens also have a strong-armed quarterback in Joe Flacco that can get the ball to Marshall.

As Rotoworld also points out, the Ravens have had great success with veteran receivers coming in and producing. Smith was the latest in that trend, following Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason in recent memory.

Could Marshall be next? The Ravens would fit the bill as a contending team and give Marshall a chance at playing time right away.
