Matt Kalil

This is a player that I am hoping the Giants go after, and go after hard. Kalil is a 26-year-old tackle, and he is someone that could hold down the outside of the Giants line for a long time.

Ereck Flowers is not meant to be a tackle in the NFL. He is terrible on the exterior of the offensive line, but by adding Kalil, the Giants can move Flowers to the interior. Reese has done a great job drafting skill players, but he has struggled to draft offensive linemen.

Justin Pugh has been good, but he was drafted as a tackle, and then got moved to the guard spot. By going after Kalil, Reese knows exactly what he’s getting. Kalil has been one the NFL’s best young tackles for the Minnesota Vikings.

A hip injury kept Kalil out of the majority of last season, but he is worth taking a shot on.  He might not be nearly as established as Whitworth, but he has higher upside.

At age 26, and fully recovered after hip surgery, Kalil is going to be great for years to come. By taking a shot on him the Giants will get him cheap, and possibly on a long-term deal.
