Latavius Murray

I’m not a front office guy in the NFL, but wow, I can’t believe the Oakland Raiders let Latavius Murray walk. The guy has had his fair share of injuries early in his career, but when he runs it’s just so explosive and powerful. The Giants need another power guy in their backfield.

I remember watching Murray’s first touch against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football. He hits the hole right, cuts back left, and gallops down the sideline for a 90-yard touchdown. Unfortunately, a concussion injury kept him out of the second half of that game, but he already racked up 112 yards on just four touches and found paydirt twice.

I don’t expect Murray to have anywhere near that production if he came to New York, but the three running back committee the Raiders had last season completely misused him. Murray should be a feature back with a compliment, and I think he would work really well with a guy like Paul Perkins.

Murray is also still young at 27 years old, and with his flash-in-the-pan greatness, he doesn’t have a high price tag. He is a player the Giants can easily afford, but the running game won’t get fixed with just a dynamic rusher.
