The New York Knicks fell apart after a strong first quarter, getting blown out by the Oklahoma City Thunder.

105. 27. Final. 116. 149

The New York Knicks started off on fire against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. They couldn’t be stopped offensively and led by as many as 17 points. Then, everything came quickly crashing back down to Earth.

The Knicks lead disappeared about as quickly as they built it as they went into halftime trailing by two points. After scoring 39 points in the first quarter, the Knicks were able to muster only 66 points the rest of the game. The Thunder kept on rolling and it resulted in yet another blowout loss for New York.

Defense has been a problem for the Knicks all season and tonight was no different. They had no answer for the Thunder on the perimeter, as they knocked down 12-of-23 from behind the three-point line. It was a total team effort from Oklahoma City, as seven players hit a three-pointer as everyone oozed with confidence against a nonexistent Knicks defense.

More from New York Knicks

The Knicks weren’t too shabby offensively either. They shot 47.7 percent from the field and 52.4 percent from deep. But they were unable to keep up with the Thunder. It was a disappointing end to the game with how well things started off.

Tonight was the Knicks last game heading into the All-Star break. They head into the break with an underwhelming 23-34 record and this could be the last time we saw some of the players in a Knicks uniform.

Three Stars

SF Carmelo Anthony, Knicks — Anthony continued his torrid offensive performance tonight against the Thunder. He feasted against Andre Roberson, scoring an efficient 30 points. He made 11-of-20 from the field and an impressive 6-of-7 from deep. He also made both of his free throw attemtps. Anthony also added four rebounds and four assists, in addition to one steal and two blocks. Anthony is not the reason for the Knicks struggles.

PG Russell Westbrook, Thunder — Westbrook has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Thunder all season. That continued against the Knicks, as he recorded his 27th triple-double of the season. Westbrook needed only 29 minutes to get his triple-double tonight, the third fastest for him this season. He recorded 38 points, 14 rebounds, and 12 assists against New York tonight, adding three steals and one block to go with six turnovers.

SG Victor Oladipo, Thunder — Olidipo had a strong game for Oklahoma City. The Knicks struggled to keep up with him as he found success in the open court and half court. Oladipo scored 21 points, going 9-of-17 from the field and 3-of-6 from deep. He also added four rebounds, two assists, and one steal on the night.
