Tim Tebow of the New York Mets has been using former Met, Daniel Murphy, as a mentor to help his baseball journey.

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is trying to become a major league baseball player for the New York Mets.

Making the career switch from football to baseball is not an easy thing to accomplish, but Tebow is certainly a talented athlete. Even though it didn’t work out for him as a starting quarterback, not too many people would question Tebow’s athleticism.

Now that Tebow is making the transition to baseball, he has been using his neighbor and former Mets infielder Daniel Murphy to help him with the transition.

"“It’s not that we talk that much about the Mets organization, although they have been great to both of us,” Tebow told Brian Costello of The New York Post. “It’s just about the pursuit of baseball, the ins, and outs. He is a total analyst of the game and works like crazy. For us, it’s been going over the little things over and over and over again. Talking pitches, out of the hand, how we’re picking stuff up. That’s what Daniel does that’s such a different level.”"

Murphy has really become an excellent hitter in the majors since leaving the Mets. In the 2015 playoffs with the Mets, Murphy had one of the most memorable postseasons in recent years.

The Mets didn’t give Murphy an extension after that great performance, and he ended up signing with the Washington Nationals. Murphy continued his great hitting with the Nationals, as he totaled a .347 batting average, 25 home runs, and 102 RBIs. It was certainly a career year for Murphy, as he was able to sustain what he did with the Mets in the postseason for an entire season.

Tebow has always been known for his hard work. As he tries to make the majors, getting advice from players like Murphy is certainly a good way to learn. Even though he isn’t a young kid, Tebow is treating it like a young player looking toward veterans for advice.
