Chad Ford of ESPN has released his third NBA Mock Draft. Who did the Brooklyn Nets take in the first round?
The Brooklyn Nets are still feeling the effects of trading for Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Instead of having possibly the first overall pick in the NBA Draft this season, they will be swapping picks with the Boston Celtics once again.
It is certainly tough for the Nets not to have their first-round pick this season. Due to a talented draft class, the Nets would love to have one of the premier talents coming to Brooklyn.
In Chad Ford’s most recent mock draft, he has the Nets selecting freshman guard Andrew Jones from Texas. Here’s what Ford had to say about the Nets’ pick.
"Losing out on players like Fultz and Ball must be heartbreaking for the Nets. At this point in the draft, they aren’t likely to land anywhere near that caliber of player. But there are a lot of scouts who feel like Jones is a major sleeper. He’s an elite athlete, plays above the rim and has shown the ability to knock down the 3. He’s really come along in Big 12 play. The Nets need to continue to swing for the fences with these late draft picks and hope they strike gold. Jones is a good bet down this low."
This season, Jones is averaging 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in just over 25 minutes per game. As the season has gone on, Jones has played really well for Texas in conference play. He has currently scores in double figures in his last seven games. Three of those games came against Kansas, West Virginia, and Baylor.

Depending on what the Nets do at the trading deadline, they might have a need for a point guard. As the Nets approach the draft, they should be focused on drafting the best player available. Furthermore, with Jones’ improvement recently, he would be a good selection for the Nets.
