New York Knicks Getting Back Derrick Rose, To Be Without Joakim Noah vs Los Angeles Lakers
The New York Knicks will be getting Derrick Rose back in the lineup against the Los Angeles Lakers, but will be without Joakim Noah.
The New York Knicks will be hosting the Los Angeles Lakers tonight at Madison Square Garden. They will be getting some reinforcements, as Derrick Rose is expected to return to the lineup tonight against the Lakers.
Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News reported the news on his Twitter account via Jeff Hornacek. Along with the news about Rose, Bondy also passed along that starting center Joakim Noah is expected to be out against the Lakers.
Rose has been sidelined for the past four games. He injured his ankle against the Charlotte Hornets on January 27th when he stepped on Kemba Walker‘s foot. Getting Rose back into the lineup will help the Knicks depth issues in the backcourt.

With Rose sidelined, a lot of the point guard responsibilities were falling on Brandon Jennings‘ shoulders. Jennings has played at least 38 minutes in each of the four games that Rose missed, including 53 against the Atlanta Hawks in the four-overtime game.
With Rose back in the lineup Jennings will shift back to the bench. Sasha Vujacic and Ron Baker will probably be removed from the rotation again, as they were playing sparingly with Rose out.
Noah will be out for the seventh time this season. This time around, the Knicks should be very comfortable with what they have to replace him.
Earlier in the season when Noah was injured the Knicks were not sure of what they had. Kyle O’Quinn was serviceable, but never part of a rotation full time. Willy Hernangomez was a rookie second round pick and Marshall Plumlee was an undrafted free agent. In the months since, the Knicks have found out that they have some serious depth up front.
O’Quinn has outstanding per minute stats. He controls the paint when he is in the game as a rebounding and rim protector. He can also stretch the court a bit offensively, opening things up for the go-to scorers.
Hernangomez has produced beyond even the wildest of expectations. Hernangomez has earned a nightly rotation spot, registering four double-doubles in the past two-three weeks despite not always being in the rotation.
Plumlee has provided energetic minutes whenever the opportunity has come up. Plumlee has only been active when Noah is inactive, and even that hasn’t guaranteed him minutes. But when he plays, he brings it with a high motor and energy.
