New York Knicks Will Start Derrick Rose vs Philadelphia 76ers
New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose is expected to be re-inserted into the starting lineup tonight against the Philadelphia 76ers after missing Monday’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The New York Knicks and Derrick Rose have had a bizarre start to their week. Rose did not show up for Monday night’s game, a blowout loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. Team officials and teammates were unsure of where Rose was, as he had attended shootaround earlier in the day but did not report to the game.
Very little information was known even after the game, as players just hoped that Rose was okay. Head coach Jeff Hornacek said that everything would be cleared up soon enough. That soon enough came Tuesday
Rose was back with his teammates at practice, returning to New York Tuesday afternoon after going to Chicago Monday.

He said that he had returned to his hometown of Chicago for a family matter that included his mother. As a result of skipping the game and not notifying any team officials, the Knicks fined Rose.
While details remain murky about what exactly went on, the Knicks will look to just move on and focus on basketball. The fine is all that Rose will receive from the team, as he is avoiding suspension. Not only is he avoiding suspension, he will regain his spot in the starting lineup.
According to Steve Popper of The Record and USA Today, Rose will be back in the starting lineup for the Knicks tonight when they travel to face off with Philadelphia 76ers.
This is a move that will probably surprise some people. Getting his spot back after disappearing and leaving his team out to dry sounds like an incident that would have more of a punishment along with a fine; what does a fine really mean to a player making millions of dollars?
Regardless, Rose will be back on the court with his teammates tonight. It will be interesting to see how Hornacek uses Rose in this game. Prior to missing Monday’s game, Rose had been benched in consecutive fourth quarters by Hornacek, who opted to go with Ron Baker and Brandon Jennings instead.
It is a move that reportedly irked Rose, and is worth keeping an eye on. Is that something Hornacek will now routinely do or was it just a short term decision looking to spark his struggling team?
