New York Knicks Get Dominated By Anthony Davis, New Orleans Pelicans
The New York Knicks were dominated for a second time in less than two weeks by Anthony Davis and the New Orleans Pelicans.
It was a long, weird Monday for the New York Knicks. People talk about Mondays being the worst day of the week, but the Knicks took that to a different level like only the Knicks can.
Things started harmlessly enough, as the Knicks had their normal shootaround earlier Monday in Westchester. But, that was the last time that some teammates saw Derrick Rose for the day.
Rose didn’t show up for the game Monday night against the New Orleans Pelicans, and no one knew where he was. Teammates and team officials alike had no idea of Rose’s whereabouts for the game, so he was a late scratch.
It was the latest of late scratches, as Rose was not announced out until 7:33 by the Knicks PR account on Twitter; three minutes after the game was scheduled to tip. As a result, the Knicks started Brandon Jennings in place of Rose.
Not knowing where one of their teammates is makes for a scary situation, as Rose was unreachable prior to the game. It probably played a part in the outcome of the game, but there isn’t much Rose could have done to help the Knicks slow down Anthony Davis.

The budding superstar showed off his array of talents against the Knicks less than two weeks ago when he scored 23 points on 9-of-18 from the field. He also added 18 rebounds with two assists and two steals, but zero blocks and three turnovers. Davis would make sure the Knicks felt the full force of his abilities this time around, as he upped his game at Madison Square Garden on Monday.
Davis once again destroyed the Knicks as they had no answer for the 23-year old. Davis would score 40 points this time, making 14-of-22 from the field, making his lone three-point attempt and 11-of-12 from the foul line. He once again pulled down 18 rebounds, adding two assists and three blocks with zero turnovers.
Did we mention he did this all in only 29 minutes if play, none of which came in the fourth quarter? Davis was forced from the game with a hip injury after the third quarter, but x-rays came back negative and the team is hoping he can play Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets.
The Knicks had no answer for Davis, as he dominated Monday night. Joakim Noah tried his best to slow him down, but he does not have the athleticism to keep up with him on the perimeter. Kyle O’Quinn and Kristaps Porzingis also had their chance to try and stop him, but all attempts were futile.
O’Quinn was ejected on a flagrant-2 foul that he committed on Davis, which was when it looked like he injured his hip. O’Quinn was joined by Carmelo Anthony early in the locker room, as he was ejected for the third time this season from a game.
