New York Giants Team Grades vs Green Bay Packers Wild Card Weekend
Rushing Offense Grade: C-
The Giants rushing offense has bad all season. There was some life being shown in recent weeks, but the Packers were able to keep them in check throughout the afternoon. In the regular season, the Giants ranked 29th in the NFL in rushing yards per game, while the Packers ranked 8th in the NFL in run defense.
The Giants faced an uphill battle going into the game and struggled mightily throughout. After a great regular season finale against the Washington Redskins, when he broke the 100-yard mark for the first time in his career, Paul Perkins was held in check against the Packers.
Perkins gained only 30 yards on 10 carries, 14 of which came on one carry in the third quarter. Rashad Jennings was sprinkled in for five carries, gaining 29 yards. He had a long run of 11 yards. Eli Manning also had an 11-yard scramble in the fourth quarter once the game was already decided.
Bobby Rainey received one carry, which went for no gain. For the game, the Giants gained 70 yards on 17 carries for 4.1 yards per carry. The Giants did not find that much success all game, as more than half of those yards came on three carries.
The Giants season ends much like it began with the running game with no sustained success throughout the game.
