Coaching Staff Grade: A+

Once again the Giants coaching staff had the team prepared from the get go. They deserve some credit for gameplans the last two weeks. The Giants faced off against the top two teams in the NFC record wise at the time of the game and held them to 13 points combined.

The coaches prepped the players and put them into position to succeed and they responded. Ben McAdoo got enough out of the offense against the Lions, and the first drive was excellent. The Giants went 75 yards in 10 plays, blowing through the Lions defense.

McAdoo has shown a willingness to stick with the run in recent weeks which is nice to see. While the results are not up to where you’d hope, you cannot abandon the run during the game. It keeps the defense honest and he is beginning to work Perkins into the game and he is finding some success.

Steve Spagnuolo deserves a lot of credit for what he is accomplishing with this defense. The Giants brought it to the Lions all evening and got stops when they needed them. He has figured out how to manufacture pressure despite losing Jason Pierre-Paul against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He will have a tall task in trying to replace Jenkins if he is forced to miss time. He was able to make it work against the Lions, but Jenkins is an almost irreplaceable player for the Giants as he shadows the opponent’s best receiver and takes them out of the game.

Spagnuolo could have his hands full trying to figure things out without his top cornerback. But, he has proven that he is capable of doing it and has this defense rolling.
