The New York Giants have officially played half of their season. They hit the midway point of eight games played with a good 5-3 record. They will look to push that record to 6-3 and get the second half of the season started off on the right foot tonight on Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Before we get to discussing that game, let’s take a look at how the first half of the season has gone for the Giants. They have been a streaky team, experiencing ups and downs through eight games. They won the first two games of the season, lost their next three, and are now riding a three-game winning streak.

Consistency has been a problem for the Giants thus far. They have not really been able to put together full four quarters yet in all aspects of the game. One unit or another excels while one lags behind more than often.

The running game has been a disaster all season so that has brought down the overall performance of the offense. The defense has saved them a couple of times this season with their bend but don’t break approach. The money spent on that side of the ball has proven a good decision as free agents Olivier Vernon, Janoris Jenkins and Keenan Robinson have all performed well.

The Giants have won a handful of game this season that they were losing last season. That has resulted in a strong first half and a winning record at the midway point. Check out the Giants’ team grades by position from the first half of the season.
