Brandon Marshall has continued his war of words with Miami Dolphins’ cornerback Byron Maxwell as the New York Jets and Dolphins are set to play again this weekend.

Brandon Marshall is one of the more outspoken New York Jets. He appears on a weekly television show and always provides good quotes for the media. This week he is at it again, as he goes up against the Miami Dolphins.

This will be the second time that the Jets and Dolphins face off this season. The Dolphins won the first meeting, 27-23. Leading up to that game, Marshall ripped Dolphins’ cornerback Byron Maxwell‘s play apart. Marshall was not found of Maxwell’s playing style, and things have not changed.

Marshall is back in the media once again ripping apart Maxwell. He picked up right where he left off before the first meeting six weeks ago. Marshall said that Maxwell holds on every play prior to that game and he is not changing his tune much this week.

Here is what Marshall said this week from ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini:

"“I think the refs did an amazing job the last time we played them,” Marshall said. “I think they threw three, four, five flags, so Saturday night I’ll be assisting the refs.”Keeping a straight face, Marshall reached into his locker and pulled out a yellow penalty flag.“I’ll be carrying my own flag just in case he decides to conduct himself the same way,” he said, holding up the flag for reporters. “So I will help the refs out, but I thought they did a tremendous job the last time we played them.”"

In the first meeting this season, Maxwell was flagged for penalties twice, both pass interference calls. Marshall didn’t have a great game, catching five passes for 46 yards.

More from New York Jets

It was a much better performance earlier this season than the first time the two faced off. Marshall torched Maxwell and the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 when he caught 10 passes for 104 yards and one touchdown.

Maxwell doesn’t let Marshall’s comments and head games get to him. He said that he is not bothered by what he says. “This is a business. I think it’s a business transaction. I’m out here to do a job. He’s in the way. It really don’t matter to me as long as I do what I gotta do,” Maxwell said.

Maxwell also doesn’t believe that there is a rivalry brewing between he and Marshall, as he is more focused on winning the game. “I think it’s one way. I’m just playing football. We with the Miami Dolphins are just trying to win games. We’re not wrapped up in the show. We’re wrapped up in the show of winning,” he said.

Maxwell has no reason to let Marshall’s words get to him. While Marshall believes that he may be gaining and edge and winning off the field, it is on the field where the results truly matter. On the court is where Maxwell has succeeded ultimately, as his teams are 2-0 against Marshall the last two seasons.
