New York Giants Rumors: Justin Pugh Expected To Sit vs Dallas Cowboys
New York Giants Rumors: Left guard Justin Pugh is expected to sit against the Dallas Cowboys this week.
New York Giants rumors have revolved around the status of injured lineman Justin Pugh. Pugh injured his knee in Week 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was expected to miss 4-6 weeks with the original diagnosis.
This week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys has been a target for his return. It would mark five weeks since his injury and give the Giants some reinforcements in a huge game. But, because he has already suffered a setback, the Giants are going to take their time with arguably their best offensive lineman.
That is why the Giants, expect to hold Pugh out of the Sunday Night Football matchup against the Cowboys. He is listed as questionable, but The Record and USA Today’s Art Stapleton was told that Pugh will be sidelined. The source cites worries for another setback as the reason for him being out.
This is a blow for the Giants. Their offensive line has been a sore spot all season and Pugh is arguably their best player in the group. But, making sure he is healthy for the remainder of the season is more important.

The Giants stand a better chance during the stretch run of the season if he is in the lineup. It is disappointing he has to miss another game, but it is definitely better for him to get closer to 100 percent healthy.
New York is expecting Pugh to be back in the starting lineup Week 15 against the Detroit Lions. That would be the full six weeks that Pugh was originally diagnosed.
Without Pugh in the lineup, the Giants will probably go with Marshall Newhouse at left guard. Left guard has been a revolving door since Pugh went down, as both his backups also suffered injuries soon after.
Brett Jones was injured against the Cincinnati Bengals in his first NFL start. Adam Gettis, who was signed off the practice squad, did not last much longer. That left the Giants with Newhouse, their right tackle to begin the season, as the starting left guard. He was also hurt, but will take over the spot this week as he is healthy enough to play.

Along with Newhouse, the Giants are expected to go with Ereck Flowers, Weston Richburg, John Jerry, and Bobby Hart along the offensive line. The Cowboys do not have a strong pass rush, so this is a good opportunity for the Giants offensive line to flex some muscle, opening up holes in the running game and giving time to Eli Manning in the pocket.
