The Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks finished up their home-and-home series Friday night. The Knicks picked up the win in Minneapolis 106-104. They were able to come out on top once again, as the Knicks swept the home-and-home with their victory Friday night.

With the win, the Knicks are over the .500 mark once again at 10-9. They got back on track at home, where they are now 8-3 on the season. With the loss, the Timberwolves fall to 5-14 on the season and 2-8 on the road.

Just like in the first game, the Knicks were able to build a big lead early on. Once again, the Timberwolves fought back in the fourth quarter to make it a game. Tonight the Timberwolves got help from outside of Karl-Anthony Towns.

More from New York Knicks

After scoring 47 in the matchup Wednesday, the Knicks were able to contain Towns tonight. He didn’t score his first basket until late in the first half and shot only 5-of-18 on the night for 20 points. Towns was -21 on the evening, as every Timberwolves starter had a negative plus/minus ratio.

The script was the same but the performers were different. In the first meeting, it was the Knicks bench that led the way, this time it was their starters. The Knicks starting unit all finished with positive plus/minus ratios and chipped in in some way. The bench was nonexistent tonight, as two of their main pieces, Justin Holiday and Kyle O’Quinn, were in the starting lineup because of injuries to Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah.

Every player that came off the Knicks bench tonight had a negative plus/minus ratio as the starting five did a lot of the heavy lifting.

Three Stars

C Kyle O’Quinn, Knicks — O’Quinn had one of the best games of his career tonight. After getting abused by Towns in the first matchup, it was O’Quinn coming out on top this time. O’Quinn scored 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting to go along with 13 rebounds. He also added two assists and two blocks in addition to his aiding in the slowing down of Towns. O’Quinn was making his fourth start of the season in place of Noah.

SF Carmelo Anthony, Knicks — Anthony has been under fire for some inefficient shooting games. Fans get on him sometimes for not passing enough but tonight he played a strong game. He led the way with 29 points but a majority, if not all, came within the flow of the offense. The Knicks offense flowed well all night and Anthony was a big beneficiary. He also added five rebounds, three assists, and three steals with only one turnover.

PG Derrick Rose, Knicks — Rose has looked good this season, but when he scores the Knicks have struggled. Tonight he scored at will and was able to help get the Knicks a victory. Rose scored 24 points on 9-of-15 from the field as the Timberwolves couldn’t keep him in front of them. He also added five rebounds and five assists compared to only one turnover for a well-rounded game. Rose also had one steal on the night.
