Mets Rumors: Curtis Granderson Drawing Trade Interest
New York Mets Rumors: The trade market for Curtis Granderson is reportedly heating up.
New York Mets rumors have really picked up in living days. Since Yoenis Cespedes re-signed with the team, rumors have sparked in regards to their other outfielders. The Mets have a logjam in the outfield with Jay Bruce, Curtis Granderson, Juan Lagares, and Michael Conforto.

Conforto may be untouchable as he is thought to be a building block for the team. Lagares will probably stick around as the fourth outfielder and brings value as a defensive replacement and right-handed platoon option. That leaves Bruce and Granderson as potential trade chips.
Bruce is someone the Mets have been shopping. The Toronto Blue Jays have been the team mentioned most often. They had a deal done for him last offseason that fell through and checked in on his availability earlier this offseason as well. After Cespedes signed, the Blue Jays reportedly began pushing for again for Bruce.
While Bruce makes a logical target for the Blue Jays, they may be switching their focus. According to Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports, the Blue Jays are also checking in on Granderson. Heyman also notes that free agent Dexter Fowler is another target for the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays are probably playing the market to see which player would cost less to acquire in a trade. The Mets may ask for more in a trade with Granderson because of the versatility he possesses. He can play some center field, something Bruce is not capable of. Granderson has also shown the ability to play and succeed in New York, something Bruce has struggled with.
But, the asking price for Granderson could be rising. According to Marc Craig of Newsday, Granderson is actually drawing more interest on the trade market than Bruce.
If that is true, the Mets may be more inclined to move Granderson. They could receive more for him with multiple teams in the bidding. Despite being 35-years old Granderson would bring a lot to the table. He is an outstanding teammate, evident from the Roberto Clemente Award he won this season. He can fit in virtually anywhere in the lineup, as he provides power and solid on-base skills.

He is someone the Mets would like to hold onto, but if he draws more interest and a better package on the trade market the Mets hands may be forced. There is a lot to like about Granderson, but the Mets will have to make a move in regards to their outfield and he may the odd man out.
