New York Giants Team Grades vs Cleveland Browns
Passing Defense Grade: A-
The Giants pass defense was on point against the Browns. They have been heating up in recent weeks, and if you combine that with the inability of the Browns to block the results are great for anyone rooting for the Giants.
The Giants made sure Josh McCown had a miserable afternoon. McCown was under constant pressure throughout the game. The Giants racked up seven sacks and 11 quarterback hits in the game. Jason Pierre-Paul and Olivier Vernon lived in the backfield; Pierre-Paul had three sacks and three quarterback hits while Vernon had 1.5 and five. Johnathan Hankins and Janoris Jenkins each had 1.5 sacks, with Hankins adding two quarterback hits and Jenkins with one.
The Giants also forced turnovers on their sacks. McCown fumbled twice, both of which times the Giants recovered. The Giants also snuffed out a trick play when running back Duke Johnson Jr. threw a pass.
McCown did have some success throwing the ball to Terrelle Pryor. Pryor caught six passes for 131 yards. He took advantage of rookie Eli Apple for his longest gain of the day on a 54-yarder. Corey Coleman caught McCown’s touchdown on a nicely ran route in the fourth quarter when he turned Jenkins in a circle.
The yardage, and some dropped interceptions are the reasons for the grade not being an A or A+.
