New York Giants: Five Takeaways Against Chicago Bears
By Nick Ziegler
Too conservative
The slow start for the Giants was certainly frustrating, but so was the conservative play on offense in the fourth quarter. In the second half, the Giants came out with a huge surge against the Bears. They were able to score touchdowns on their first two drives of the half, and they retook the lead.
Due to two missed extra points by kicker Robbie Gould against his former team, the Giants led by six going into the fourth quarter. Despite having a lot of momentum, the Giants offense went into a shell late in the game.
After the two touchdown drives, the Giants had five straight drives result in a punt. The real troubling part of that was that they went three-and-out on three of those five drives. Due to it being a one-score game, the Bears had plenty of opportunities to make a comeback in this game.
Even though the Giants defense didn’t allow the Bears to score, it would have been nice to see the Giants show some killer instinct and put this game away. Ben McAdoo seemed content with having a six-point lead, which easily could have been erased.

It was still a six-point win for the Giants, but they really let the Bears hang around in this game. If not for the defense bailing them out in the second half, the Giants could have suffered a horrible loss to the Bears.
