New York Knicks news for Lance Thomas is not positive, as the reserve forward is dealing with multiple injuries to his lower body.

New York Knicks news was not overly positive today in regards to backup  forward Lance Thomas. Thomas originally injured the ankle against the Houston Rockets a little over two weeks ago. It was originally diagnosed as a sprained ankle, and he missed the following game against the Chicago Bulls.

That would be the only game that Thomas missed, as he returned to play 29 minutes against the Utah Jazz. He would appear in four consecutive games, but it was clear the injury was still nagging him. His minutes swung, as he played 20 minutes or more in two of them, and then 10 or less in the other two.

He last played Saturday, November 12th against the Toronto Raptors, missing the last two games. It looks like he could miss more games, as he is set to have the ankle re-evaluated. It is safe to say that he will miss tonight’s game against the Washington Wizards as he was spotted in a walking boot leaving the locker room after last night’s victory over the Detroit Pistons.

The ankle injury that he suffered against the Rockets has actually worsened. Thomas told the New York Post It has developed into a bone bruise, and he is also dealing with plantar fasciitis in both feet. He has had the plantar fasciitis in his left foot since the summer, but the right foot has recently been injured.

Thomas believes the multitude of injuries has played a part in his underwhelming play thus far this season. He has been trying to help the team as much as he can, but it could be time for him to sit and rest so that he can help the team closer to 100 percent healthy.

“I don’t want to be something that keeps me out for too long but when I come back I want to be effective to the team,” Thomas said. “I’ve been playing through the injuries. My teammates know I’ve been trying to do my best.’’

Thomas was an integral part of the Knicks bench last season and getting him back healthy should help. Justin Holiday has been a revelation with the second unit and filled in well for Thomas.

But, having both of them would be a boon to the second unit as a whole. Both bring energy and would give Jeff Hornacek some options for the second unit because of the versatility they both bring.

Hopefully, the injury isn’t a long-term one, as the Knicks were already thin on the second unit. Thomas is a glue guy that this team needs coming off the bench.
