The New York Knicks picked up an impressive early-season road victory over the Chicago Bulls Friday night.

27. Final. 104. 24. 117

The New York Knicks are a polarizing team. They have a lot of talent, albeit some older players, and people were wondering when they would figure things out. Tonight they looked to have figured some things out, picking up an impressive road victory over the Chicago Bulls.

With the victory, the Knicks move their record to 2-3 on the season, with tonight being their first win away from Madison Square Garden. The Bull fall to 3-2 on the season, suffering their first home loss.

It was an emotional night, as Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah made their first returns to Chicago since leaving this offseason. The Chicago-native Rose said that this was just another game, but he looked like a different player tonight with his best game of his Knicks tenure. The same goes for Noah, who stuffed the stat sheet as the Bulls had become so used to seeing.

The Knicks got things rolling offensively, shooting 51.7 percent overall and an impressive 42.9 percent from deep, going 9-of-21 from three-point land. All five starters scored at least 15 points, as Jeff Hornacek leaned on his starting five tonight.

More from New York Knicks

The offense was really humming tonight as the Knicks had only five turnovers compared to 32 assists. That is outstanding efficiency and a big reason the Knicks picked up the victory as they were able to withstand Bulls runs.

The Knicks had to grind out a victory tonight for the most part because they struggled to finish possessions with rebounds. The Bulls made a living on the offensive glass with 15 offensive rebounds. They only outrebounded the Knicks by two total, but all the offensive rebounds made it feel like the Bulls had a bigger advantage.

It is what the Bulls used to keep the game close as the Knicks had the advantage everywhere else. Dwyane Wade did his best to ruin Rose and Noah’s return as well. He turned the clock back as well with 35 points and 10 rebounds. He knocked down six three-pointers on the night, as he already has more three-pointers made this season in five games than all of last season.

Three Stars

PG Derrick Rose, Knicks — Rose had a big game in his return to Chicago. He registered a double-double in his return, scoring 15 points with 11 assists. He also added seven rebounds, one steal and one block. He attacked the basket aggressively, which helped open things up for his teammates.

C Joakim Noah, Knicks — Noah had easily his best game as a Knick in his return to Chicago as well. He provided production everywhere and stuffed the stat sheet. He scored 16 points with nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals. It was a throwback game for Noah, who had plenty of nights like this during his time with Chicago.

PF Kristaps Porzingis, Knicks — Porzingis took advantage of the Bulls defense tonight. He scored multiple times on switches, just turning and shooting over smaller defenders with ease. He shot 10-of-15 from the field and 4-of-7 from deep en route to 27 points. He also had five rebounds and one assist.
