Wide Receivers
Grade: B-
The quarterback play has hampered the performance of the wide receivers, but they haven’t done much to help their quarterback either. Losing Eric Decker for the season hurts as well, as everyone had to move up the depth chart and they became easier to defend.
The bright spot here as been the play of Quincy Enunwa. He has looked like a keeper for the Jets offensively, leading the team with three touchdown receptions and 36 receptions; he has turned those 36 receptions into 502 yards, which is second on the team. Enunwa is willing to work over the middle and get dirty in the blocking game.
Brandon Marshall has dominated targets once again but is far off pace from his outstanding 2015 season. Marshall leads the team with 77 targets but has managed to catch less than half of those throws for 34 receptions. His 540 yards lead the team, and he has added two touchdowns. Marshall is a gamer, but he makes at least one boneheaded play a game, whether it be a dumb penalty or bad dropped pass.
To emphasize the lack of talent behind Marshall and Enunwa you just have to look at the stats. Decker is still the third leading receiver on the team despite playing only two games healthy and not suiting up since Week 3. They have intriguing young players in Robbie Anderson and Charone Peake, but they are not moving the needle this season.
