Houston Rockets vs New York Knicks Recap, Highlights, Final Score, More
The New York Knicks fans went home disappointed Wednesday night as the Houston Rockets leave town with an easy victory.
It was another disappointing night for the New York Knicks as they had their doors blown off them by the Houston Rockets. After getting two early leads, the Knicks fell behind and were unable to get back into the game.
The Rockets offense was on point right from the start with some aid from the Knicks. The Knicks didn’t look interested in playing much defense from the opening tip. The Rockets had open shot after open shot and capitalized on the chances the Knicks gave them.
The Knicks trailed by as many as 28 points as they could not keep up with the Rockets. Former Knicks head coach Mike D’Antoni had to be happy watching his new team blowout out his former one as the Knicks look to still work out the kinks under Jeff Hornacek.

The Rockets shot 47.2 percent in the game and 37.5 percent from the three-point line. The Knicks struggled to find consistency on offense in addition to the defensive end, shooting 43.5 percent from the field. The 40 percent from the three-point line was encouraging, but it wasn’t enough as the Rockets almost doubled the Knicks three-point makes; they made 15 shots from deep as the Knicks made eight.
The Knicks have a lot to work on under Hornacek still. They looked out of sorts again offensively and the effort defensively just wasn’t there. The starting five has to build some chemistry, as the Knicks are starting too slow on both ends of the court, putting themselves in early holes that are tough to come out of.
After giving up 64 points to the Detroit Pistons in the first half last night, the Knicks followed it up tonight by allowing 68. Not the way you want to start games as the Knicks looked defeated early on and didn’t mount much of a comeback in the second half tonight.
Three Stars
PG James Harden, Rockets — D’Antoni decided to put the ball in Harden’s hands even more as the point guard and he has put up monster stats. Against the Knicks, it was much of the same, as they had no answer for Harden. He scored 30 points with 15 assists, six rebounds, and two steals. It is already the third time this season Harden has gone for at least 30 points and 15 assists in a game.
PF Montrezl Harrell, Rockets — Everyone got in on the action against the Knicks tonight. Harrell, who isn’t normally in the Rockets rotation, got extended run tonight and had a career night. He tied a career-high with 27 minutes played and scored a career-high 17 points with 10 rebounds, also a career-high.
PG Derrick Rose, Knicks — Rose looked explosive in the early going once again for the Knicks. He got to the basket with ease, blowing by defenders and finishing at the rim. He looks like is still trying to get comfortable alongside his teammates, but when given a chance to get to the rim he is still taking it and getting there. Tonight he scored 16 points with four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
