Josh Brown will not be traveling with the New York Giants to London after new evidence has surfaced from his domestic violence case.

Josh Brown‘s life has turned upside down this week. Many people were calling for the New York Giants’ kicker to receive a stiffer penalty earlier in the season. Brown was suspended one game to start the season for his role in a domestic violence suit with his wife at the time, Molly Brown.

Brown returned as the team’s place kicker after that, but that may change sooner than later. The NFL is re-opening its domestic violence case and investigation amid the new evidence that came out today. The case is being re-opened after police evidence showed that Brown admitted to abusing his wife.

Brown admitted as much in a series of journal entries and emails released in police documents in Washington State Wednesday. What Brown said was brutally honest, as he wrote in an email that he had “objectified women and never really worried about the pain and hurt I caused them.” In a journal entry, Brown wrote that he had “physically, mentally, emotionally and verbally been a repulsive man.”

More from New York Giants

The Giants signed Brown to a two-year, $4 million contract this offseason. They said they were aware of the allegations and comfortable with signing him, as co-owner John Mara said in August. “All I can tell you is that we’re aware of all the allegations, and I believe all the facts and circumstances, and we were comfortable with our decision to re-sign him.”

The Giants may be regretting that decision to re-sign him with the most recent evidence becoming to light. As a result, Brown will not be traveling with the Giants to London this week for their game against the Los Angeles Rams. Brown has not been cut, but in a statement the Giants that they are reviewing the new documents and still support Brown.

"Josh Brown will not travel with the team to London. In light of the news reports regarding the documents released by the State of Washington yesterday, we think it makes sense to review this newly disclosed information and to revisit this issue following our trip to London. The Giants do not condone or excuse any form of domestic violence. Josh has acknowledged that he has issues in his life and has been working on these issues through therapy and counseling for a long period of time. We remain supportive of Josh and his efforts."

This is a difficult situation to handle for everyone involved. The Giants have not yet made an announcement on a roster move to assure that they have a kicker in place for Sunday, which leaves open the door for Brown to join the team later.

If Brown is not placed on an exemption list of some sort, someone will probably lose their roster spot because of Brown’s action, as the Giants need a kicker Sunday afternoon. The most logical move would be cutting Brown himself, but the Giants are set to do their due diligence on the situation.
