The New York Giants offensive line’s ability to keep Eli Manning upright was a big reason for their win over the Baltimore Ravens.

The New York Giants picked up an important victory over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6. It snapped their three-game losing streak, putting them back at the .500 mark on the season. It was a good momentum builder as the Giants head into their overseas battle with the Los Angeles Rams next week in London.

In the process, there were also some milestones reached. Eli Manning continued his trek up the all-time touchdowns list. With his three touchdowns, Manning passed John Elway for seventh place on the all-time list. We saw Odell Beckham Jr. have a breakout performance, as he got on track in a big way. Beckham Jr. finished the game with eight receptions for a career-high 222 yards and two touchdowns.

We saw Odell Beckham Jr. have a breakout performance, as he got on track in a big way. Beckham Jr. finished the game with eight receptions for a career-high 222 yards and two touchdowns. He scored the game-winning touchdown, which was the 700th in the history of the organization.

It was a successful afternoon from the looks of it. But there is more that goes into the Giants’ success against the Ravens offensively. While Manning made the throws he had to, and Beckham Jr. outran the Ravens defense, credit needs to be given to the offensive line.

More from New York Giants

The offensive line has been picked apart throughout the season. They have been unable to provide Manning with time to make plays, as he has become skittish at times in the pocket. We saw it against the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers, as Manning was inaccurate, missing receivers all over the place. Emotions boiled over after the Sunday Night game against the Packers, as Ereck Flowers pushed a reporter in the locker room after a tough game.

The Giants finally brought some of that aggression onto the field with them against the Ravens, as they were able to keep Manning upright. Terrell Suggs was the only player that was able to generate any pressure on Manning, as he registered the only sack and two quarterback hits in the game for the Ravens.

The Giants offensive line caught a break with leading sacker Elvis Dumervil sidelined, but you have to take advantage of opportunities presented to you. The unit certainly did, as they kept the Ravens off Manning and the results were great. Another positive was that the offensive line didn’t commit any penalties in the game. The Giants committed seven penalties for 119 yards, but none were called against the offensive line.

Being afforded time, Manning was able to make the throws that he had to. While he had two interceptions, both could be chalked up to things outside Manning’s control; the first clock management by Ben McAdoo, the second by Sterling Shepard falling over and possibly being interfered with.

It was a good confidence boosting game for the Giants offensive line. We have seen in the past what Manning is capable of if given time in the pocket, and he showed it once again against the Ravens. They will face a stiff test against the Rams next week, as they have a talented defensive front with Aaron Donald, Robert Quinn, and Williams Hayes.
